Music Legend Kurtis Blow, known as American Rapper and Record Producer is set to appear at the Back 2 School "Stop the Violence" Youth Empowerment Tour in Brooklyn, New York Saturday August 6, 2011. He is the first rapper signed to a major label (Mercury Records), first certified gold rap recording for “The Breaks,” and first rap millionaire are just a few of the highlights of his groundbreaking career. He released ten albums in 11 years and toured with many chart-topping recording artists and also appeared in the films, “Cry of the City” and “Krush Groove.” On the West Coast he gained popularity as on-air radio personality. Kurtis Blow, also studied ministry at Nyack College and has most recently gained notoriety for being co-founder of the Hip Hop Church, which holds services at the Greater Hood Memorial AME Zion Church, located at 160 West 146th Street in New York City. Kurtis serves as rapper, DJ and worship leader and now licensed minister. Children who turned out for a back-to-school event at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Carol City got more than just school supplies. They also took part in a revival and got a big dose of inspirational talk from several Gospel artists, including a former gang member. Senator Frederica S. Wilson, Mayor Shirley Gibson, Gospel Artist Holy Boy, View More Gospel's Ambassador also known as The Ambassador will be headlining the Miami Back 2 School event taking place Saturday August 21, 2010. Other guest artist is Gospel Psalmist Holy Boy, Artist Kyros, Revealed Truth and may more. The event will also spur a host of celebrites and guest speakers for the evening concert from 6:00 pm - 9:00pm. Red Carpet starts at 5pm. its getting very Hot and Steamy in Miami Florida with many celebrities already confirming their attendance. Event hosted by Tasha Smith the star of the film Why Did I Get Married Part 1 & 2 and Radio DJ Alex "Big Lip Band".
